Labour Day doesn’t have to mean the fun stops…

Labour Day is right around the corner but that doesn’t mean that summer is actually over! Labour Day is really only the “end of summer” if you’re still in school. The rest of us have until September 23rd! Capitalize on the last few weeks of summer and check off a few more things from your summer bucket list. Here are five that you can do this weekend.

1)   Go to a Fair or Festival

There’s always a lot to do on a long weekend and Labour Day is loaded with get togethers, BBQ’s, tractors, midways, soap box derby’s, artisan fairs and craft fairs, live entertainment, and lots more to do and many of these stops have a very important element…Beer Gardens!

2)   See A Summer Blockbuster

When was the last time you went to the movies? Pick a day and turn it into movie night, grab some friends or a special someone and head to the movies. Lots of big titles are opening this weekend including: Don’t Let Go, Saaho, Before You Know It, and Bennett’s War. You may be able to fins one of the old fashioned outdoor drive ins to have fun at. Head to the movies and then afterwards hit up a local spot for a nightcap to catch up with your friends.

3)   Go To The Beach

Remember when you were a kid and summer meant going to the beach every week? Whether it’s the river, a lake or a pond, get some sunshine and take a dip in your local swimming hole this weekend. Port Dover, Port Rowan, Turkey Point, Sauble Beach…there’s a beach calling your name this weekend. There are also public pools and splash pads to kick it with.

4)   Have a Cookout

Summer vacation doesn’t have to mean taking a trip to somewhere exotic, enjoy the warm weather in your own backyard. Invite the neighbors over for a late summer cookout and why not whip up some cool cocktails as well. Not only will a pretty cocktail impress your guests, but it will also help to break out of your normal routine and make even a backyard cookout feel special.

5)   Take a Last Minute Trip

Staycations are fun, but of course if you can make it happen, nothing is more exciting than a last minute getaway. Head to a faraway beach, golf vacation, a new city or the great outdoors. Search for some affordable flights and pull the trigger, summer Fridays won’t last forever.  Pack your suitcase and go!
