Brant County council vacancy filled

A familiar and experienced voice is returning to the Brant County Council table.

Steve Schmitt has accepted council’s appointment to fill out the rest of this term, following the resignation of Will Bouma.

Schmitt served on County Council for 8 years and the former South Dumfries township Council for seven years before retiring from municipal politics in 2014.

Schmitt says he will not seek re-election in Ward 1 in the October 22nd election.

He fills the vacancy left when former councillor Bouma won Brantford-Brant riding for the P-C’s in the provincial election.
