Brantford receiving $3-million to combat homelessness

Brantford and Niagara are just two municipalities that will be receiving millions of dollars under a federal homelessness strategy.

Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos launched the Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy on Monday.

The government has pledged about $3-million to Brantford and $5.2 million over the next five years for Niagara.

The government will also be expanding the program’s reach by up to six new communities through an application process.

This comes as the federal government continues to pledge to reduce homelessness by 50 percent by 2027-2028.
