Epic Jobs Skilled Trades Fair

Two-thousand students will be able to learn about skilled trades careers on an epic scale.

Grade 7 and 8 students from about 40 Grand Erie public and separate school boards will learn about trades careers by taking part in hands-on, interactive activities at the Gretzky Centre and from listening to inspirational speakers at the Sanderson Centre.

At the Gretzky Centre, students can try a virtual welder, change tires on a sports car, watch a working at heights rope rescue, learn about skilled trades in agriculture, and visit exhibits inside and outside.

At the Sanderson Centre, feature speakers are Brantford-born celebrity chef Cory Vitiello, videographer Jeremy Bout, auto mechanic and blogger Emily Chung, and Jamie McMillan, a female ironworker and founder of Kick Ass Careers, which promotes non-traditional careers to girls.

Epic Jobs takes place next Wednesday from 9:30 to 3:30 at the Gretzky Centre and 9:30 to 2:30 at the Sanderson Centre.
