Former Waterloo Region officer killed on 401

A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a truck in Waterloo Region had been arrested in a prostitution sting.

55-year-old David MacKintosh of Breslau was hit by the truck  Wednesday morning in the Highway 401 westbound lanes near Homer Watson Boulevard.

Police aren’t releasing details about why MacKintosh was walking on the highway.

The former Waterloo Region Police officer was charged June 7th two months after he was arrested in London.

He later announced his retirement.
