Gas prices fall to 80 cents/litre

Gas prices range from .80 to .99 cents a litre as of 4 0’clock this morning.

Benchmark U-S crude is up 65 cents this morning to $54.55 U-S per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The March contract gained 80 cents in trading yesterday to settle at $53.90.

The Canadian dollar is trading overseas this morning at 75.42 cents U-S, down 11 -100ths of a cent from yesterday’s average value of 75.53.

The S&P/TSX composite index closed down 15.37 points at 15,626.73.

In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 117.51 points at 25,543.27.

The S&P 500 index was up 8.30 points at 2,753.03, while the Nasdaq composite was up 5.76 points at 7,420.38.
