Guelph trails closed due to coyote sightings

Preservation Park trails near Guelph remain closed due to an increased number of coyote sightings.

General Manager of Parks and Recreation Heather Flaherty says the trails may be closed for a week while Coyote Watch Canada and the Guelph Humane Society complete an investigation.

The city says coyotes are likely raising their young and are more protective.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the city says residents should avoid the trails, dogs should be kept on a leash and people should refrain from feeding wildlife.

A ‘trail closed’ sign, seen above, is visible from the sidewalk on Kortright Road West across the street from Hanlon Creek Park.
