Haldimand taxpayers face smaller tax hike

Caledonia, Hagersville, Cayuga and Dunnville residents will pay higher property taxes next year.

But the bite may not be as big as expected.

Haldimand County Council’s draft budget calls for a 1-and-a-quarter per cent tax increase over last year, below the proposed hike of 1.5 per cent.

That works out to $39 per year on a property assessed at 256-thousand dollars.
