Increased police presence in downtown Toronto

Toronto police say they are increasing the number of officers throughout the city in response to an “unconfirmed, uncorroborated piece of information” relating to the Greater Toronto Area.

Police say they received information about a potential risk to the GTA, but did not disclose any additional information.

Police say they will focus their efforts on the city’s downtown, that includes Scotiabank Arena and the CN Tower.

A police spokeswoman says the force is “erring on the side of caution.”
