Yesterday morning a water main, which broke sometime Monday night, eventually wore out the ground beneath a large portion of Lancaster street causing a sinkhole. Lancaster was closed between Hillview and Hill Streets. Crews have been working since Tuesday to repair the main and the street.
The city of Kitchener has since restored water service by repairing the pipe, however, residents may notice their water running less than clear, they have this recommendation:
UPDATE: (2/2) Customers may notice discoloured or milky looking water. Please run water for several minutes until water runs clear.

That section of Lancaster street is still closed this morning.
