For the first time in 50 years, a new elementary school has opened in the Dunnville area.
The final brick emblazoned with the year 2018 and a time capsule, was laid to officially complete Mapleview Elementary on Friday.
The 42,000 square foot school actually opened in November to 400 students from the former Grandview Central Public School and Fairview Avenue Public School.
The state-of-the-art energy efficient school features a hallway on the upper level, for example, includes a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the gymnasium, and provides a bird’s eye view of the activity below while muffling the sound.
