It’s NHL All Star Weekend this weekend and it will all get started with the All Star Celebrity Shootout – a charity event which pits NHL alums with celebrities. The game this year will have each team’s Jersey displaying a patch dedicated to life long hockey fan Alan Thicke, who passed away while playing the sport. The celebs hit the ice at 5:15. This friendly game is a nice prelude to the display that will come later in the afternoon in the NHL All Star Skills competition, with the four divisions each competing in the six skill based competitions.
The list of events for Tomorrow’s skills competition looks like this:
• Gatorade NHL Skills Challenge Relay
• Honda NHL Four Line Challenge
• DraftKings NHL Accuracy Shooting
• Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater
• Oscar Mayer NHL Hardest Shot
• Discover NHL Shootout
With the fan-elected captains, Carey Price of the Atlantic Division, P.K. Subban of the Central Division, Sidney Crosby of the Metropolitan Division, and Connor McDavid of the Pacific Division, each being part of the process to determine which players will participate in the six events. Each of the 44 All-Stars will compete in at least one of the six rounds of skill-based contests. The Skills Competition starts at 7.
Then on Sunday it is the AllStar Game, or games as is more accurate, with a 3 on 3 Tournament again with the winner of the Skills competition making all the decisions on the schedule of who plays who and in which game. Game one starts at 3:30 on Sunday with each game being only 20 minutes and going to a shootout in the event of a draw.
The four teams will be playing for a winner take all $1,000,000.00
