Police investigating tanker truck crash near Cambridge

Authorities are investigating a crash involving a tanker truck that forced the closure of busy Highway 4-0-1 in both directions near Cambridge.

The truck was carrying 50-thousand litres of highly flammable jet fuel when it flipped on its side around 2 O’clock Sunday morning after colliding with another vehicle..

Both side of the 401 were closed between Highway 6 south at Brock and Townline Road.

The fuel was spilled on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway, with police saying the clean up was a “logistical nightmare.”

The truck driver was treated for minor injuries.
