The Liquor Control Board will oversee the sale of marijuana in as many as 150 stores once the federal government legalizes recreational use of cannabis next July 1st.
At a news conference today (Friday), Health Minister Eric Hoskins and Attorney General Yasir Naqvi said marijuana will be sold separately and not in LCBO stores.
Consumers will also be able to by marijuana through a government-run website.
The Wynne government expects all the stores to be open by 2020 and will be restricted to those 19 and older – just like for alcohol.
And the province expects all marijuana dispensaries will be closed.
