Risk of torrential rain, before heat wave strikes

Special Weather Statement from The Weather Network:

Potential for heavy thunderstorms today followed by an extreme heat event for the Canada day long weekend.  Total local rainfall amounts could be in the 30 to 50 mm range, with higher amounts possible under the heaviest storms.  A persistent southwest flow is then forecast to develop, bringing hot and humid air from the gulf of mexico. Beginning Friday or Saturday and continuing through the Canada Day long weekend, expected daytime highs are in the low to mid thirties with humidex values into the mid forties.

Tonight:  risk of thunderstorms.  Low 18.

Tomorrow:  mainly sunny. High 28 (humidex 34).

Friday:  mainly sunny.  High 30 (humidex 36).

Saturday and Sunday (Canada Day):  sunny, hot and humid.  High 34 (humidex 45).

Monday:  a few showers.  High 31 (humidex 41).
