Simcoe school’s fate still unknown

Still no decision on the future of a Simcoe public school.

Grand Erie District School Board trustees voted to ask the Ministry of Education for more information and funding clarity before they decide what to do about Elgin Avenue Public School.

Trustee are considering two scenarios.

They include forfeiting $6.2 million in funding from the Ministry of Education and exploring funding for a new school; or, revisiting the recommendations from the South East Norfolk Elementary Accommodation Review.

In that scenario, the board would keep West Lynn Public School open and build an addition onto it and close Elgin Avenue.
