Storm clobbers region for a second day

A massive, slow moving system continues to pelt southern and central Ontario with rain, freezing rain and ice pellets.

The system is affecting an area that stretches west to east from Windsor, into Quebec and north to south from North Bay to Lake Ontario.

Freezing rain warnings in effect for Brantford, Brant County, Hamilton, Burlington, Milton, Waterloo Region, Simcoe, Caledonia and the GTA are expected to change to rainfall warnings later today.

OPP and local police services have investigated hundreds of collisions.

A man in his 60s suffered critical injuries when he was hit by a sign that blew over in downtown Hamilton.

The storm also led to hundreds of flight delays and cancellations.

Pearson International Airport is advising travellers to check the status of their flights before leaving.

Hydro outages have been reported in the Burford and Mount Pleasant areas.

Firefighters were on scene of a house fire in Mt. Pleasant this morning.

No injuries

And a fire damaged a home, but caused no injuries in St. George on Saturday.
