Storm slams southern Ontario

It’s a snow day for students across southern Ontario as a Colorado low sweeping north brings a dangerous mix of snow, ice and freezing rain to our region.

Environment Canada is predicting up to 25 centimetres of snow and ice and winds gusting to 70 kilometres an hour before the temperature rises and the precipitation turns to rain and ice pellets this afternoon.

Waterloo, Halton, Hamilton, Grand Erie and Brant-Haldimand-Norfolk Catholic boards closed schools, while schools remained opened but buses were cancelled in the London region.

There are hundreds of cancellations and delays at Toronto’s Pearson International airport and Billy Bishop airport in downtown Toronto.
