Unifor blasts G-M to close Oshawa plant

A fired-up Jerry Dias spoke at a rally of autoworkers in Windsor today, just across the river from the Detroit headquarters of General Motors.

The Unifor boss lambasted G-M’s decision to shutter the assembly plant in Oshawa — northeast of Toronto — by the end of the year.

Dias warned G-M management that next week’s auto show in Detroit could be inundated by a flood of disgruntled workers.

The protest comes as General Motors held a presentation to  investors today in which it strengthened its pre-tax profit estimate for 2018 and predicted even better numbers in 2019.
