Volunteer groups mobilized to tackle opioid crisis

In a sign of the times, volunteer groups are being mobilized to retrieve discarded needles in Brantford.

Officials say more needles have been found on public and private property, due to the increasing misuse of opioids.

The plan was approved by Brantford City Council last (Tuesday) night, as part of a community drugs strategy.

City officials, the health unit and St. Leonard’s Community Services are also planning to expand the number of sites where needles can be safely disposed of in the city.
