If you want to quit smoking but are having a hard time or can’t afford the treatment options available then the City of Hamilton is offering something you should know about. In the month of February City of Hamilton Public Health Services will be hosting two STOP (Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients) sessions in downtown Hamilton.
The STOP Program provides five weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), which they call, a practical support for alleviation of nicotine withdrawal symptoms, and which has been shown to be effective to help people quit smoking.
It is a good opportunity to end a nasty habit that costs quite a lot of money and can send some friends or family members running for the air freshener.
To know whether you are eligible to participate you will need to call. It happens to be the same number you need to dial in order to register for a STOP session.
Call the Tobacco Hotline at 905-540-5566 ext. 1.
Do remember that space in these sessions is limited; so they encourage you to register early to avoid disappointment.
