Waterloo politicians support regional government review consultations

Waterloo Region’s chair and mayors say they’re encouraged the provincial government is launching an online consultation process about a review of regional governments

In a release, the chair and seven area mayors say the review of regional governments has the potential to affect how municipal services are delivered in their communities and they also encourage the province to provide additional opportunities for in-person input into the process.

The municipal leaders say they continue to encourage the provincial government to be clear about its desired outcomes and to allow communities to determine how best to achieve these desired outcomes – to reflect their unique circumstances.

Waterloo Region, Oxford County, Halton, Niagara, York, Durham, Peel, Muskoka District and the County of Simcoe all are being reviewed by the province, lead by two key officials including former Waterloo Region Chair Ken Seiling.
