Two people have died from West Nile virus in southwestern Ontario.
The Essex-Windsor Health Unit says the two cases are unrelated but add the two victims are seniors who succumbed to the virus in the last week.
It’s the first deaths linked to West Nile in the region since 2012.
Officials says the virus will continue to be a risk until the temperature falls below the freezing point.
Ontario has had nearly 40 confirmed or probable cases of West Nile virus as of September 2nd.
