Willie Nelson honoured; legend up for two Grammys

Kacey Musgraves says she once asked Willie Nelson why he doesn’t run for president.

She says his response was, “Because I’d win!”

Musgraves was one of several musicians who saluted Nelson in a tribute in Los Angeles Wednesday put on by the Recording Academy’s Producers and Engineers Wing.

Dave Matthews performed “Funny How Time Slips Away.”

He was joined by Nelson’s sons, Micah and Lukas, to perform “Crazy” and “I Thought About You, Lord.”

Others in attendance were Ziggy Marley, Lisa Loeb, Feist, songwriter Diane Warren and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

Nelson himself performed “Living in the Promiseland” and “On The Road Again.”

Nelson is up for two Grammys.
