Woman charged with fraud, stealing from CUPE

A Hamilton woman’s been charged with ripping off a union that represents 1,700 hospital workers.

Police say between January 2010 and March 2017, CUPE Local 786 lost about $1-million.

Investigators say the fraud unit received a complaint last year from CUPE following the discovering of several “accounting irregularities.”

57-year-old Elizabeth Marck, the Local 786 elected treasurer, is charged with fraud and theft over $5,000.
