Brantford Public Library set to reopen Main Branch on Tuesday

The main branch of the Brantford Public Library—located on Colborne Street—will reopen to the public next Tuesday.

Reopening at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, visitors will be able to browse the stacks and look at special collections, including those in the local history room.

When it reopens, the main branch will be open: 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday; and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.

The St. Paul Avenue Branch will remain closed, but is still offering pick up services.

To ensure the public’s safety, a number of measures will be implemented at the main branch, including increased use of self-checkouts, limiting the number of visitors inside the library and placing all returned items into a 72-hour quarantine.

Library CEO and chief librarian, Rae-Lynne Aramburo, elaborated further saying that, “items that are handled while customers browse materials will be cleaned before going back into circulation and there will be increased cleaning”.

In-person programs traditionally offered at the library however, have been suspended until further notice.

To prepare for Tuesday’s reopening, pickup and computer services will not be available on Monday at the main branch.
