On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Great Canadian Gaming Corp. announced that there has yet to be a date set for reopening Elements Casino Brantford.
Chuck Keeling, Great Canadian’s executive vice-president of stakeholder relations says that “at this time, a date has not been determined when Elements Casino Brantford will reopen, but we will be announcing further details once confirmed”.
Last week, Premier Doug Ford announced that most of the province, including Brantford and Brant County, could move into Stage 3 of the province’s reopening plan, which includes the reopening of casinos.
However, similar to other businesses looking to reopen, casinos must follow strict health and safety guidelines if they intend to open. As well, there are limits on the number of patrons allowed in an establishment at any given time.
Casinos are only limited up to 50 patrons at one time who must adhere to proper physical distancing of six metres. They can play slot machines but table games aren’t permitted at this time. Additionally, the use of masks or other face coverings will be mandatory.
Currently employing more than 600 people, Elements Casino Brantford Union Spokesperson, Cary MacMillan, says that employees want to go back to work when it is safe to do so.
“Both sides are working together to establish safe return to work practices to be followed by the employees and public as part of a re-opening plan.”
As the province continues to reopen, it is only a matter of time before Elements Casino Brantford opens its doors once again.
